Astrology is my game

As I’ve mentioned before, I am a writer. I’m currently working on my first manuscript. When building my protagonist, I did not know where to start. I looked at a few books. Watched a couple of videos. I found some great ones on Youtube which were informative. I also discovered the Myers- Briggs Type Indicator also known as MBTI personality type. These resources were great in giving me a starting point, but they did not help me create the depth I wanted my character to have.

I felt like she was still missing something. A birthday; and more importantly- a zodiac sign. I have always been a fan of astrology. I think it is important when getting to know someone. Although, I realize I have to be careful not to get too wrapped up in it and categorizing people. I say all this to say I have been reading some books on horoscope to give me a better idea of who I want her to be.

One book I came across is Astrology for Relationships: Your Complete Compatibility Guide to Friends, Lovers, Family, and Colleagues by Jake Register. This one I would not recommend. It gives very basic and common knowledge descriptions of the signs. It’s more for a teenager; basically, someone who doesn’t have much life experience. Luckily, I did not pay for it. It is free on Kindle Unlimited if you’re curious.

Then I moved onto The Complete Guide to Astrology by Louise Edington. This book I did get more out of. She seems more knowledgeable, in my opinion, like she’s been doing this for a long time. She talks about the history of astrology and the different practices. Then she goes into detail about each zodiac sign. I would recommend this book.

My ultimate favorite is The Element Encyclopedia of Birthdays by Theresa Cheung. This reads like a diary entry on each birthday. It has been accurate for mine and those I’ve checked for family and friends. I definitely recommend this book whether you are writing or not. It’s just fun to have when you’re throwing a party or having some type of gathering. I got this book years ago before I started writing. I always go to it when I meet someone new. It can help you understand and relate to others better.

So, that’s what I’ve been working on these days. I hope this will help you in your personal or professional life.
